AFC Mapper is a free application and workflow configured within the Trimble Unity platform. It helps water utilities bridge the gap between construction, mapping and maintenance management. It was specifically designed to leverage the power of Trimble, American Flow Control 2D barcodes and Esri technologies to automate mapping and asset management of hydrants, valves and related network assets.

Accurate asset information is the foundation for smart water management

Access key specifications

Record information that simply can’t be determined from ground level, such as, precise asset specifications and manufacturing information

Reduce accidental damage

Reduce torque and accidental damage during installation, using detailed information captured from the barcode

Efficient data collection workflow

Increasing efficiency and productivity in mapping AFC hydrants and valves during installation, using intelligent and simple data collection workflows and forms

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Leverage your investment in tablets or smart phones, Trimble Unity supports various platforms with options for high accuracy GPS data collection (up to centimeter accuracy for GIS)

Collect authoritative data using the right tools, capabilities and workflows

Data Collection

Create and manage data collection jobs

Leverage 2D Barcodes

Scan AFC hydrant and valve 2D barcodes using the smartphone or tablet internal camera

Quick & Simple Data Entry

Automatically populate preconfigured AFC hydrant and valve data collection forms with data from the 2D barcodes

GPS Positioning

Capture GPS positions using the phone or tablet’s internal GPS receiver (if equipped)
Expected accuracy is 3+ meters

High Accuracy GPS Support

Option to use high accuracy Trimble external GNSS receivers that can pair with Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth (up to centimeter accuracy)

Attach Photos

Capture photos and attach to the AFC hydrant and valve data collection forms

Export Data

Export collected data in various formats including Shapefiles, Microsoft Excel and Esri File Geodatabase
